The Shame we wear.

At times, we all wear our shame like a cloak. We try to hide ourselves away and pretend that no one can see the shame we wear. People have been using shame as a weapon to preserve social order since the beginning of time. Look at the snake with Eve. He made her think that she did not hear God correctly. Satan made her feel confused and ashamed that she was not worthy to eat the forbidden fruit. But God only wanted the boundaries He set to be recognized. We all have some shame about some things that we have done in our lives. Our shame needs three things to grow and fester in our lives. Silence, secrecy, and judgement. When we keep quiet about our mistakes, and keep them to ourselves, we tend to pass judgement upon ourselves. We then pass sentencing on ourselves and lordy, we are oh so hard upon ourselves. The thing is, that we all make mistakes. We all have shame in our past, but if we just ask our Heavenly Father for forgiveness, and stop doing whatever it is that is bringing us this shame, you can be forgiven and walk away. You do not have to relive it constantly. Nothing silences more than shame, but we still need to speak out. It makes us feel like we are flawed, but God does not make people flawed. God's manual, the Bible, teaches us that God removes our shame. That He will change our Shame into praise, and Christ will change our shame to honor. We only have to ask for it. Do you really need a hiding place to escape your shame in life? God is willing to be your hiding place. To be your refuge. Draw closer to Him when you are feeling your shame start to rise. Lay it down at His feet, and speak of it no more.
