My 8 year old, non verbal, autistic granddaughter signed "eat" to me for the first time! She babbles, says a few words and hand leads to get her point across, so she has ways of communicating. But this is the first time she has responded to my lead by signing what she wants! We moved back to Ohio 2 years ago to help care for her. It might not sound like much, but this is a huge step!
