Silence.
Silence can be so very loud at times. It is beautiful at certain times of the day. Like at dawn, when nothing breathes. That mesmerizing hour of silence. Everything is transfixed, only the light moves. Slowly upwards, and then you hear the songs of the birds as they awaken to the morning sun. This is where we start to understand that silence is the language of God. It is a space designated for a deeper connection to our Heavenly Father. Silence is essential for us to hear God's whisper above the blaring noise of life. This is where, with our minds turned off for just a moment, that we find God in the stillness. This is where we find that this vast nothingness is completely filled with the presence of the Almighty. Where we find the peace and unity of the relationship that we have with our Heavenly Father, resting inside of His divine love. Only those that can bring themselves to complete stillness can hear. In reality, when we sit silently and watch the world around us, it seems only the old are able to sit next to one another and not say anything and still feel content. This is what it feels like when sitting with God. A world of emotions, dulled by the silence, but with the overbarence of love, peace, and hopefulness in the air. Silence is holy. It draws people together because only those who are comfortable with each other can sit without speaking. Husbands and wives of many years can sit in the silence of each other's company and see again and again why they fell in love in the first place. This is God's gift to them. Silence is wasted on the young. They must break it. They cannot sit in silence long enough. This is why it seems we all return to God as we get older. We recognize the silence is His presence. And with the silence, we can hear God's whisper in our ears. Listen to the silence and you will hear God's whisper.
God Bless

Hidden under layers of sediment for nearly a millennium, the 28-foot-long canoe is believed to have been crafted by Indigenous peoples, possibly ancestors of the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe. Its extraordinary length suggests it was used for long journeys, fishing, or transporting goods across the region’s waterways. When archaeologists uncovered it, they were stunned by how intact the vessel remained, from its smooth carved lines to its overall shape.
The preservation of the canoe is a scientific marvel. Typically, wood deteriorates underwater, but the chemical balance of Lake Waccamaw created the perfect environment to protect it. This has allowed modern researchers to study the craftsmanship and design techniques used by early Indigenous builders, offering a rare window into the technological and cultural achievements of pre-colonial America.
More than an artifact, the canoe is a bridge between past and present. Found in the summer of 2021 by three teenagers who first mistook it for a ...
