Here's a lovely Trace of Texas for you: what's now Crested Butte, Colorado, was part of Texas' territory until 1850. So were what's now Aspen, Vail, and Steamboat Springs. Texas territory extended all the way into southern Wyoming, with the northern tip around today’s Carbon County, Wyoming (near Rawlins, where I am told there's even a historical marker for the “Northern Boundary of the Republic of Texas,” though I have not seen it myself).
