T-Mobile has sparked major backlash after opening a new technology hub in India, laying off American workers, and spending $81.5 million on H-1B visa salaries in 2025.
The company went even further by hiring a new Indian CEO and sending American employees to India specifically to train their foreign replacements.
Critics point out that T-Mobile could have easily built and run this tech hub out of one of its existing Frisco, Texas, offices on Warren Parkway, keeping those high-paying jobs in America.
Instead, they chose to offshore and import cheaper labor through the H-1B program. This is a textbook example of how the visa system is being abused to displace American workers while companies prioritize cost-cutting over loyalty to U.S. employees.
