🔥 Learning to Receive
I’ve spent most of my life being the one who gives. The one people come to. The one who holds it together when things get heavy. It’s just who I’ve always been… and I never really stopped to question it.
But somewhere along the way… I forgot what it actually feels like to receive. Not as a trade… not with strings attached… just real support. Someone showing up because they see you… because they feel you… because they believe in what you’re doing.
Recently, that happened for Suey and me. Someone made a donation… not because they had to, but because they saw the vision we’re building with Rainbow Ridge. They wanted to help nurture it… to be a part of bringing it to life.
And I’ll be honest… it hit me in a way I didn’t expect. It almost made me uncomfortable. Not because it didn’t feel right… but because it felt unfamiliar. My whole life I’ve known how to give… but I never really learned how to receive. It’s like my body knew how to carry everything… but didn’t fully know how to let something in.
So I had to pause. Sit with it. Breathe… and just allow it.
And in that moment, something clicked. A lot of us who are always “the strong one”… we’ve trained ourselves to give so much that receiving feels foreign. Like we have to earn it… or wait until we’re completely drained before we allow someone to show up for us.
But that’s not the truth. You deserve to receive now… not later… not when you’re exhausted… not when you’ve proven your worth. Now. Not because you earned it… but because you exist.
This is how we rise… together. No more doing this alone. No more silent weight. No more thinking we have to carry everything just because we always have.
Let the people who truly see you… show you. I’m learning that right now… in real time. And I’m grateful… more than I can really put into words.
