🤔🛒 The $44.8 billion McCormick-Unilever merger just eliminated the illusion of choice in the spice and condiment aisles.
This is the same company that was caught using ethylene oxide to sterilize their spices, a chemical classified as a probable carcinogen that the EU banned from food back in 1991. When Consumer Reports tested 126 spice products in 2021, they found that one-third contained arsenic, lead, and cadmium at concerning levels, with McCormick products like basil, ginger, oregano, paprika, thyme, and turmeric among those flagged.
After a class-action lawsuit that resulted in a $3 million settlement, you’d think they would focus on cleaning up their supply chain. Instead, they decided to buy more control over your food choices. Those Knorr seasonings you thought were an alternative? Franks RedHot? Hellman’s mayo? All under the same corporate umbrella now.
When one mega-corporation controls entire grocery aisles, competition disappears, and your health becomes secondary to their profit margins. The good news is that truly independent spice companies exist, and they compete on actual quality rather than shelf space dominance.

Authorities quarantined healthy passengers for weeks aboard a confined expedition vessel while, at the same time, at least one corpse remained on the ship for nearly two weeks.
Think about that for a moment.
If your actual goal is to minimize the possibility of human-to-human transmission inside a sealed maritime environment, keeping a dead infected body aboard while confining hundreds of people into shared airspace seems like an odd strategy.
