Fun fact: Fajitas originated in West Texas and the Rio Grande Valley in the 1930s. Mexican vaqueros were often paid in tough, fibrous skirt steak. They tenderized the meat in a citrus marinade, grilled it over open fires, and sliced it across the grain to wrap in tortillas, along with all the veggies. It is Tex-Mex at its finest!

Texas guys share a look so consistent it might as well be part of the state constitution. Work jacket, hoodie or T-shirt underneath, jeans that have seen plenty of dust, boots with real miles on them, and a ballcap representing Texas, a ranch, a hunting brand, an equipment company, or something involving cattle.
Then there’s the cowboy hat. Not everybody wears one, but when it shows up, nobody questions it. It belongs there.
Facial hair follows the same unwritten Texas rules. Mustache, full beard, goatee, or a few days of stubble—whatever works. Sunglasses usually hang from the collar or disappear into the truck because there’s always another job, ranch, hunt, or road trip waiting.
The stance is classic too. Hands in pockets, arms crossed, leaning against a pickup, standing around a Buc-ee’s parking lot like they’ve got nowhere else to be for the next 45 minutes.
