It is easy to get buried under the weight of this world.
The news is relentless. Problems at work follow us home. Problems at home follow us to work. Then we pick up the phone and spend another hour doomscrolling through everything that is wrong.
After a while, it can drain the life out of us.
We stop noticing what is good. We lose enthusiasm. We feel tired, discouraged, even empty.
But sometimes the problem is not that there is nothing good around us. Sometimes we have just stopped looking for it.
Look up.
Look at the people who love you.
Look at the roof over your head, the food on your table, the dog waiting for your attention, the sunrise outside the window, another morning God has given you.
None of that makes the problems disappear. Gratitude is not denial.
It is a decision to remember that trouble is not the only truth.
And something happens when we begin counting what is good instead of constantly rehearsing what is wrong.
